Damac Properties has announced plans to build a tropical ecosystem in Akoya Oxygen master development, the company’s retail and entertainment zone set for completion in 2019.

The educational and cultural dome, called The Dubai Rainforest, will recreate the experience of a natural rainforest with a dense, jungle environment housing a number of plant species.

Ziad El Chaar, managing director, Damac Properties commented: “Dubai is known around the world for attracting the biggest and best and the Dubai Rainforest joins that list of unique attractions which will support the growth of the city.

“The Dubai Rainforest will fit perfectly into the ethos of Akoya Oxygen – the greenest community in Dubai – and provide a new space for education and cultural events which will raise awareness of this exciting ecosystem.”

Damac will collaborate with Amazonian rainforest experts to ensure the feature reflects the natural rainforest environment.

The jungle experience will begin at ground level, and guests will then climb into a 'canopy' to learn about the flora and fauna in the habitat.

There will also be a zip wire offering a bird’s eye views of the environment, as well as a rainforest spa, offering hydrothermal treatments among rock pools and steam baths.

The Dubai Rainforest will also incorporate outdoor and exploration equipment with a rock face climbing wall.

Additionally, the rainforest will be sold as a wedding venue, with couples able to exchange vows in a rainforest clearing, followed by dinner and a wedding party.

The Dubai Rainforest will sit adjacent to the Trump World Golf Clubhouse, part of an open-air walkway of retail and entertainment offerings at the 55 million square foot Akoya by Damac community in Dubailand.

Villas and townhouse in the master-development are currently under construction. The project is set around the Trump World Golf Club, Dubai – an 18-hole Championship-standard golf course, which is being designed by famous golfer, Tiger Woods and will be managed by the Trump Organisation.

Damac Properties has more than 10,000 hotel rooms and serviced hotel apartments under development, which will be managed by its hospitality arm, Damac Hotels & Resorts.
