Marriott International, Middle East & Africa, has welcomed David Leman, former VP of HR at Qatar Airways, as its new chief HR officer.

With over 20 years’ experience, Leman has worked for Starwood Hotels and Hilton International, and has lived for over a decade in the UAE. He will be based out of the Dubai office.

Peter Schiffrin, global HR officer, global development and Middle East & Africa, said of David’s appointment: “We are very excited to have David join the Marriott International family. His resumé [CV] is testament to his many capabilities which Marriott International associates from across the region will all benefit from.

“We look forward to having him be part of our company’s continued work.”

Personally, David is a keen flier and holds a private pilot’s license.

Marriott International has also recently appointed a new global communications officer, as former communications officer Kathleen Matthews left in May to possibly pursue a career in politics.

In the region, Marriott has also recently opened its first hotel in Makkah.
