CampbellGray Hotels has appointed Spencer Yeo as operations director.

Yeo brings a wealth of industry experience to the team having recently served as general manager for Viceroy Santa Monica, California following his role as pre-opening general mat Viceroy Hotel, Istanbul.

Yeo began his career 22 years ago in the United Kingdom after graduating from the University of Brighton. His career has seen him work in Mandarin Oriental, Peninsula, Forte and Intercontinental, working in diverse regions including Abu Dhabi, Nairobi, Egypt, London, California, Istanbul and the Maldives.

Earlier in his career, Yeo was director of sales and marketing at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park followed by the Mandarin Oriental in Washington DC, before joining The Peninsula Beverly Hills as director of marketing in 2008.

In 2010 he joined Viceroy Hotels & Resorts as hotel manager for L’Ermitage in Beverly Hills and has also held positions as general manager for Viceroy Maldives and Viceroy Palm Springs.

As operations director for CampbellGray Hotels, he will be overseeing all the hotels in the group. Gordon Campbell Gray commented: “Spencer has a broad portfolio of experience gained in both city hotels and in resorts, which means he is perfectly qualified to oversee the operations in our hotels which cater to business and leisure guests. His appointment as operations director strengthens the CampbellGray Hotels professional team as we embark on unprecedented growth. I am confident that he will be a tremendous asset to us.”

CampbellGray Hotels currently has one operating property in Beirut with three more in the pipeline - Le Gray, Amman, Jordan; Hotel Phoenicia, Malta and Machrie, Isle of Islay, Scotland. Just last year the pragmatic entrepreneur confirmed in an interview with Hotelier Middle East that the group has ambitions to open a Dubai hotel.
