Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai is getting ready for an April 2017 opening, and pre-opening general manager Mikael Svensson told Hotelier Middle East that the hotel received enormous interest for its initial advertisement on LinkedIn.

“In April, we initiated a LinkedIn campaign for four senior management positions, we got over 1,000 applicants for those four positions in two weeks,” said Svensson.

Currently, the hotel is operating with a small taskforce, with the sales team developing quicker than other departments, as is often the case with yet-to-open properties.

“The next stage now is to go out to market and find great talent closer to the opening date, but in phases,” added Svensson.

Operators generally rely on recruitment agencies to generate the numbers, but Svensson spoke about the collaboration with Linkedin.

“We are collaborating with them and are setting up a real-time platform, which allows people who want to work for Viceroy to understand more about our company.”
