Sue Wheatley has been appointed as the new director of sales & marketing at Fairmont The Palm.

Wheatley’s new role at the 381-room resort was effective from June 1.

Commenting on Wheatley’s appointment, Fairmont The Palm GM Mark Sawkins said: “Sue’s long association with Dubai and the region, her insider market knowledge and expertise within the luxury arena will further elevate Fairmont The Palm as we continue to push our strategic vision and position the resort as a leading destination.”

Wheatley joins the Dubai resort directly from FRHI Hotels & Resorts (FRHI) where she was executive director of luxury sales across FRHI’s three luxury brands, Fairmont, Raffles and Swissôtel. Wheatley oversaw an international team with presence in China, France, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Wheatley graduated from the University of Surrey with a BA in hotel management. Since then, she has gained 25 years of sales and marketing experience. During this time, she has worked with a number of hotel brands such as Grosvenor House in London, Raffles Dubai and the Burj Al Arab.

Wheatley spent five years with Raffles Dubai, during which the property was ranked number one in terms of global performance for FHRI. She also spent 12 years with the Jumeirah Group.

Wheatley is also a founding member of the Capital Club, and a member of the board for the British Business Group in Dubai.
