Centara has described the departure of its chief operating officer Chris Bailey as “sad” after Bailey held the position for 12.5 years.

Several colleagues and stakeholders were present at a "going-away" event that was held in Bailey’s honour in July.

When Bailey joined Centara the company was much smaller, with just eight properties in the portfolio.

Now the group boasts over 65 properties – a significant expansion in which Centara credits Bailey to have played an instrumental role.

Centara Hotels & Resorts chief executive officer Thirayuth Chirathivat said: “Chris has been a key figure in the growth and success of Centara Hotels & Resorts over the past 12.5 years. His commercial acumen and enterprise, coupled with his passion, dedication and leadership have driven the business forward year after year.”

“Today we say a fond farewell not only to a colleague but to a friend as well. We wish Chris all the very best in his next chapter,” he added.

Centara will make an announcement on Baileys’ successor in due course and expects to enter the coming year in a strong position, amid an ongoing strategy of growth and with several new hotel openings on the horizon.
