New research shows positive trend in Sharjah arrivals and revenue.

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) has released data showing hotels in Sharjah recorded a 7% growth in revenue for the first half of this year.

Data indicates that Sharjah hotel revenues are up to US $103 million (AED378 million) in first half of 2016.

Visitor numbers for the first six months of this year increased by 19% over the same period in 2015.

China showed a 73.2% increase in visitor numbers in the first six months of this year.

New flight routes to Pakistan resulted in a 10.3% increase in hotel guests from Pakistan.

Asian tourists increased by 12%, making Asia the second-largest source market for Sharjah.

The GCC remains the number one source market, sending nearly 220,000 visitors in the first half of the year.

The number of African tourists in the emirate increased only 2% in the January-to-June period.

The SCTDA expects the overall arrivals to rise by 3-5% this year.
