New Turkish restaurant Besh is due to open at the Sheraton Hotel Mall of Emirates in September this year.

Heading up the kitchen at Besh is Turkish chef Vedat Basaran. According to a company statement, Basaran is an award-winning chef (having earnt 12 industry awards during his career), well known for his “interpretation of antique cookbooks”.

In his career to date, Basaran has worked under French culinary legends Alain Ducasse, Paul Bocuse and Raymond Blanc.

Besh will offer “vintage” Turkish recipes, recreated from cookbooks dating back over 150 years. Ingredients used in the kitchen will include olive oil from NAR Gourmet, and spices from Turkey’s spice bazaar.

The interiors will feature tiles and ceramics, inspired by Istanbul. The restaurant space will also feature an open kitchen, and a traditional domed oven, used to bake pides and lahmacuns.

The new venue will have a seating capacity of 168, spread between indoor and outdoor seating. Shisha will be served on the outdoor terrace.
