Viceroy Hotel Group has appointed Mark Griffiths as regional vice president and managing director at Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi.

Griffiths will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi as well as the group’s upcoming openings including Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai, Viceroy Princes' Islands Istanbul, Viceroy Jumeirah Village Dubai and Viceroy Algarve.

He takes over the role from Andrew Humphries who has now moved on to Qatar's Katara Hospitality as chief operating officer.

With over 26 years of experience in the luxury hospitality sector, Griffiths joins from Kempinski Hotels where he served as senior vice president operations – Middle East & Africa with overall responsibility for the region’s 23 operating and pre-opening hotels.

Prior to joining Kempinski Hotels, Griffiths was the general manager of Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa, spearheading the opening of the Kuwait property. He also filled several senior positions with Majid Al Futtaim Properties, Le Meridien and Jumeirah in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
