At a recent signing event, Ascott and developer AREIC inked a management contract putting the Citadines Abha property in the Asir province of Saudi Arabia on track for a June 2020 opening, said a press statement.

The Ascott Limited is strengthening its presence in Saudi Arabia by unveiling plans for a Citadines-branded property in the southwest of the Kingdom.

Located 6km from Abha Regional Airport, guests will benefit from transportation links and access to the nearby city of Khamis Musheit, less than 20km away.

When completed, the 140-unit property will comprise studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments, along with guest facilities including a restaurant, residents’ lounge, fully equipped gym, swimming pool and prayer room.

“We are delighted to be rolling out our acclaimed Citadines brand in the heart of Abha city,” commented Ascott’s area general manager in the GCC Vincent Miccolis. “KSA remains a highly significant growth market and this latest signing not only strengthens our presence in the kingdom, but also reinforces our leadership position in the Middle East.”

“Designed for travellers who are here for work or leisure, the property will be an ideal option for short-term or long-stay guests who want the flexibility of being able to do business in Abha or explore the city at leisure from the comfort of a serviced apartment that combines top notch service with stylish and contemporary design,” he continues.

“With no internationally-branded hotels or serviced residence properties currently in the vicinity, this signing represents an important opportunity for us to establish Ascott’s award-winning serviced accommodation within Abha and beyond,” says Miccolis.

Abha Regional Airport links the city to the rest of Saudi Arabia along with flights to international destinations including the UAE, Egypt and Qatar. Upgrade plans for the airport are expected to increase its annual passenger handling capacity to 5 million.
