Although having only held his current role for two years, Hilton veteran Jean-Paul Herzog, whose career with the company spans 39 years, has had experience of the Gulf region since the 1970s.

His first posting in the region was an executive assistant manager in Bahrain and then after a lengthy period overseeing various territories in Europe, Herzog returned in 1999 as vice president of the Middle East and general manager of the Ramses Hilton in Cairo, Egypt.

In 2003, Herzog again left the region for Europe but he was the obvious choice to head up the new Middle East and Africa division when Hilton Hotels’ new organisation structure was announced in 2007.

Under Herzog’s leadership, Hilton is set to introduce new brands to the region, with two Hilton Garden Inn hotels announced for Saudi Arabia for example.

In total, Herzog oversees 41 hotels across the Middle East & Africa and is responsible for another 20 in the pipeline.

A formidable figure, Herzog is a worthy entrant on the Power 50, whose impact on the region is only set to increase once the top-end Conrad hotels planned for Abu Dhabi and Dubai get underway.
