InterContinental Dubai Festival City has created a golf course in its lobby with the aim of raising the profile of its recently acquired Al Badia Golf Club.

Half of the hotel lobby is covered in astro turf, all front office staff are dressed in golf uniforms and the golf pros from the club are available to talk about the facilities on offer, while guests have the chance to win prizes, including free stays at the hotel.

“Golf in the lobby is an activity aimed at raising the profile of our facilities available at Al Badia Golf Club, and highlighting the strong relationship and support shared between Al Badia and InterContinental Dubai Festival City, since our management takeover in July this year,” explained director of marketing communications Katerina Dixon.

“It also gives our guests a fun way to experience golf, right here in the lobby of the hotel, and win some amazing prizes.”

Guests who manage to putt a ball in three shots receive a one-hour session at the region’s only TaylorMade Performance Lab.

Those that make it in two shots receive a round of golf free and if they get a hole in one, their one night’s stay or dinner is complimentary.

“Including Al Badia Golf Club within our IHG Dubai Festival City portfolio brings unique opportunities to the group to further promote Dubai Festival City as both a business and leisure destination,” Dixon added.

There is also a Wii golf game installed for children.

Golf is very much on the Dubai agenda as the city gears up for the Race to Dubai tournament this weekend.
