Eight hotels in Doha are facing closure for refusal to comply with the star classification requirements of the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), according to a report in local daily The Peninsula.

The wayward hotels have been given until the end of March to comply with the new rules or face having to shut their doors.

The three star hotels have been requested to upgrade their service standards, security and safety aspects in order to maintain their star classification. If they don’t show any compliance they face being downgraded from three stars to two or even a single star.
