A fire ripped through a hotel in Northern Iraq, killing 28 people on Friday.

The blaze at the Soma Hotel in the Kurdish city of Sulaimaniyah began due to an electrical short, according to reports.

It is thought that half of those killed were foreigners, some of the victims jumping to their deaths from the five-storey building as there were no fire escapes.
