Nobu Hospitality, the hotel company owned by Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa and Hollywood actor Robert De Niro, is currently looking at potential locations in the UAE and is aiming to open a series of branded hotels in the emirates “soon”, its CEO has said.

“There’s no timeline for when we have to have [a hotel]. Naturally, we’d like to have one very soon, but it depends on the location, the partners and a lot of things,” Nobu Hospitality CEO Trevor Horwell told Gulf News, adding that the company was currently looking at “various locations” in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

In 2011 the hotel group signed an agreement with Reem Investments to operate a hotel at Reem Island in Abu Dhabi but so far no work has started.

The first Nobu Hotel opened in Las Vegas in 2013 and the company aims to have 10 open around the world within the next three years.
