Jumeirah Zabeel Saray’s guest services executive Amir Ben Mansour has been awarded with the ‘Receptionist of the Year’ title at a gala ceremony held in Dubai.

The award was presented by the Amicale Internationale des Chefs de Reception et Sous Directeurs des Grand Hotel (‘The Association of Front Office Managers and Assistant Managers of 4 and 5 star hotels’).

Jumeirah Zabeel Saray general manager Fernando Gibaja said: “During the rigorous three-round process which involved questions and role-play, Mansour beat the competition which comprised 38 candidates from other hotels in Dubai and impressed the judges with his charismatic personality and ability to go the extra mile."

“We are extremely proud of Amir’s achievement and to have him among our team. He is a talented and enthusiastic individual who goes beyond the call of duty to ensure our guests’ satisfaction. He is passionate about his work and capable of handling challenging requests with a smile. He’s a true ambassador of Jumeirah Zabeel Saray,” Gibaja added.

The German national has worked for Jumeirah for four years and recalls some of the more challenging requests he’s dealt with.

“I remember once I sat with a guest for 2.5 hours helping him write a romantic letter in German so he could propose to his girlfriend. Another time I dressed up as Santa Claus for orphaned children when I worked in Frankfurt and once I took a taxi and travelled 20km away to buy a VIP’s favourite drink which was out of stock in the hotel.”

Mansour will now represent the hotel and the UAE in Paris this year on the international stage, which is the culmination of the same competition, as aspirants battle it out for the David Campbell Trophy.
