Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi

Viceroy Hotel Group regional president Anton Bawab has confirmed that after eight years, the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi’s owners Aldar is looking at phased reinvestment into the property.

Speaking to Hotelier Middle East about current market conditions, Bawab said: “The market is soft for everyone — it’s not helpful that we have an immense amount of supply coming in, so we’re all in the same boat.”

Bawab continued: “We have one of the most understanding and supportive owners at the property — which is Aldar. They have seen that the property has now hit a certain point in its lifecycle where it needs reinvestment.”

He said facilities are being upgraded, and new concepts are being worked on.

He noted: “We just opened our kids’ club, which took a meaningful space and investment.

“We are now looking at the lifecycle of the food & beverage outlets to make sure that we remain relevant in the market — so in the next few years you will see a few new concepts coming up. [These will be] not just relevant to guests but to people who live around us.”
