The final candidates for the Hotelier Middle East Awards Concierge of the Year have been announced, with five nominees making it on to the shortlist.

The award has always been a tough category due to the sheer amount of talented concierges in the region.

Allwyn D'Cunha, concierge supervisor, Raffles Hotel Dubai
Allwyn submits all invoices for limo hire, newspaper orders and other third party invoices (like Desert Safari companies for example) and breaks down our costs and the hotel profits for the accounts department. Allwyn always does these tasks with precision and I trust him completely with these numbers.

Royston is an unassuming character yet impressively brings his passion for our industry to life to the benefit of all stakeholders - his team members, our guests and our owners - contributing to sustainable success for Madinat Jumeirah.

Jerome Joseph Ernest Roderigo, chief concierge, Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi
Jerome, the foremost member of Les Clefs d’Or in Abu Dhabi, is a legend in the U.A.E hospitality community in the eyes of our guests, team members and regional community, due to his dedication, passion and humble approach to delivering great service to all of our guests and supporting the team members in doing the same.

Ronald Sahagun, senior concierge, InterContinental Doha
Working for more than five years in Doha Qatar from bellman to his promotion of senior concierge, he also extends his arm to participate in the local association in Doha, the Qatar Concierge Society affiliated with the Les Clefs d’Or UAE and has recently been appointed secretary general.

Mohamed Yassin Abo El Magd, assistant chief concierge, Semiramis InterContinental Cairo
Mohamed’s determination to ‘self improve’ saw him go beyond the call of duty when he attended a communication skills workshop in London at his own expense, then shared his new skills and knowledge with concierge colleagues.

The winner will be announced at the Hotelier Middle East Awards, which will be held on October 14 at Madinat Jumeirah Resort.
